Globe Detective Agency Bribing Citizenship Unit Officials to Remain in Contract

An Asia-based due diligence agency named “Globe Detective Agency” is again surrounded by new controversies. After getting blacklisted by three Caribbean countries, sources revealed that some countries that are still associated with the agency are just due to the fact that the agency owners have bribed some officials in the citizenship units.

Globe Detectives have been able to save their agreements with certain countries by paying huge amounts of bribes to the officials at the citizenship by investment programme units.

The agency is facing a lot of criticism and is accused of not being able to carry out background checks with efficiency. Also, some countries said that their reports do not include enough information to authorise the application of an individual seeking citizenship.

Globe Detectives which have been associated with and run by the same “Kumar” family is not new to controversies. It had also been accused in the past of not sharing the correct information about some people who had criminal backgrounds. Their reports lack basic background checks and include false information which is considered a threat to global society.

Some sources told Middle Eastern Times that some CBI officials are getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to allow. The number of accusations against the agency is leading to new difficulties for Globe Detectives and countries are trying to corner themselves from working to get due diligence.

As per reports, three countries already refused to work with Globe Detectives, and as the controversies continue it appears that more countries will either dismiss or not get into a contract with Globe Detectives at all.

What is due diligence?

Due diligence refers to the background checks that are done to understand the character of an individual. Some banks also carry out due diligence on their customers.

All countries offering citizenship by investment programmes contract with third-party due diligence agencies to do a background check on people applying for programmes. These due diligence agencies prepare a report, based on their thorough scrutinization, after which the citizenship units take decisions to either grant or refuse the citizenship.
